FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT WOULD I DO?
An essential piece of Miracle League is the "buddy system." Each athlete is paired with an able-bodied friend to assist them on and off the field. Guidance is generously offered by coaches, organization leaders, and family members to ensure buddies feel comfortable working with their athlete. MLMM also relies on volunteer couches, game day announcers, and concession stand helpers.
WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?
MLMM is always seeking kind-hearted people who are willing to donate their time. Buddies can be fellow schoolmates, parents, college or high school students, athletes, business leaders, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts or any individual or group who wishes to donate their time to give a child the gift of baseball. Volunteers must be 12 years of age or older and are subject to background screening. Enthusiasm and compassion are key. No prior experience is needed. League coordinators will provide you with all of the information and training necessary.
WHAT'S THE TIME COMMITMENT?
The amount of time required varies depending on your volunteer position. Buddies are our most common opportunity, and they are expected to attend each game with their designated athlete. Games take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Each team plays a total of six games over the course of seven weeks in June-July.
WHERE ARE GAMES PLAYED?
Games are played at The Miracle Field located at Valley Farms Park in DeWitt Charter Township.
